Consul General Richard Makepeace during the exhibition

British Consul General Mr. Richard Makepeace and Mayor of Bethlehem Dr. Victor Batarseh opened the Peter Sanders' "Muslims of Britain" exhibition yesterday at the Bethlehem Peace Centre.  The event was organised by the British Consulate General in Jerusalem and the British Council, in co-operation with the Bethlehem Peace Centre.
In his welcoming remarks, director of the Bethlehem Peace Centre, Michele Naser said that such activities are very important, especially in Bethlehem, as the exhibition sends messages about peaceful coexistence between the different religious faiths.

British Consul in Jerusalem Richard Makepeace underlined the importance of the exhibition, as a cultural event that the Consulate and British Council will organise across West Bank cities. He said the exhibition explains about the life of the Muslim community in Britain and the rights that all minorities enjoy, as well as the duties they have towards their country.
"The exhibition highlights the cultural, religious and civil freedoms people enjoy in Britain, it also stresses on values of tolerance and cultural diversity and shows the extent to which the minority groups are integrated in the British society".  He said.
